momcozy m5 vs mommed s21

Momcozy Vs MomMed

Before we start, it’s important to note that both Momcozy and MomMed have several pumps in their wearable breast pump range. However, for this article, I will be comparing the Momcozy M5 wearable pump to the MomMed S21 model.

The reason for this is both pumps feature an all-in-one design and from that aspect to me, they are the most similar of the two ranges.

Now, let’s delve into the functionalities and features offered by the Momcozy M5 and compare them with the MomMed S21.

All About Momcozy M5

The Momcozy M5 presents itself as a remarkably efficient and lightweight wearable breast pump, meticulously designed to ensure a comfortable and pain-free pumping experience for nursing mothers.

Its standout features include a unique 105° flange angle and an innovative vibrate-to-pump mode, cleverly replicating a baby’s natural nursing motion. This design not only guarantees a painless pumping encounter but also actively stimulates letdown, contributing to more effective and smoother pumping sessions.

The pump’s efficient milk expression is facilitated by the 105° flange slope, which optimizes breast cupping without compressing milk ducts. Furthermore, the incorporation of a vibrate-to-pump mode significantly boosts efficiency by gently opening milk ducts during pumping, resulting in higher milk output and quicker sessions.

Offering an impressive range of 9 adjustable suction levels and 3 modes (Stimulation/Expression/Mixed), the M5 allows mothers to customize their pumping routines according to their comfort and milk flow preferences.

Its versatility extends to its all-in-one structure, weighing a mere 230g and eliminating the need for external components and wires, making it particularly suitable for busy, on-the-move mothers.

The M5’s double-sealed breast shield/flange design again prioritizes pumping comfort. Its user-friendliness, reinforced by a simple interface with minimal buttons, simplifies both setup and operation.

I love that the package also includes a hard-shell carry case with a handle, making it easy to carry and store.

However, it’s worth noting that while the pump includes an auto shut-off feature, it lacks an integrated timer for tracking pumping duration.

With a 5.4-ounce capacity, the M5 provides worry-free pumping sessions, and its use of BPA-free food-grade silicone materials ensures safety for both the user and the baby.

Operating at a noise level of under 50dB, the M5 remains discreet, maintaining a calm and private environment.

Similarities And Differences Between MomMed S21 Vs Momcozy M5

The Momcozy M5 and MomMed S21 are two of the most popular wearable breast pumps on the market. In this comparison, I will discuss the similarities and significant distinctions between these pumps.

mommed s21 vs momcozy m5 flange design

Flange Design

When it comes to flange design, both the Momcozy M5 and MomMed S21 breast pumps, the biggest differences lie in their flange designs.

When it comes to flange design, I think the M5 shines with its unique 105° flange slope.

This ingenious design centers on the angle at which the flange envelops the breasts during pumping, directly influencing both milk flow and overall comfort.

The meticulously calculated 105° flange slope is precisely tailored to imitate the natural contour of a baby’s mouth while latched onto the breast.

By mimicking this angle, the M5 provides a smooth and pain-free pumping experience by aligning perfectly with the natural mechanics of breastfeeding.

Beyond its comfort-enhancing aspect, this unique flange design also helps to minimizes the potential discomfort stemming from milk duct compression, a common concern with conventional breast pumps.

Importantly, this specific flange slope also contributes to milk flow efficiency by allowing milk to flow naturally and unobstructed. This streamlines the pumping process, potentially leading to higher milk output in less time.

This is only enhanced by the additional seal on the breast shield/flange on the M5, which is a feature the MomMed S21 does not have. This special feature is design to provide a snug and comfy hug around the breast during pumping. This has two main benefits, comfort and preventing leaks, so moms can pump with confidence.

I do really love this unique flange design, and feel it is a great option for moms who have experienced discomfort whilst pumping.

In terms of flange sizes, the pumps also share a difference between them.

MomMed S21 comes with a 27mm breast shield and an addition 24mm flange included. Additionally, you have the option to purchase 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, and 24mm size flanges and a 24mm breast shield separately.

For moms with a smaller nipple size, you may not appreciate having to purchase the smaller flanges separately.

In contrast, the Momcozy M5 comes with a standard 24mm flange shield, as well as multiple flange sizes ranging from 17mm to 27mm, so you get the right fit straight from the box.

Pumping Modes And Suction Levels

In terms of pumping levels, MomMed offers 12 which is 3 more than Momcozy who only offer 9 suction levels.

I love the additional suction levels as I feel it gives you much more opportunity to really fine tune your pumping experience to meet your comfort and expression levels.

In terms of suction modes both Momcozy and MomMed offer the 3 modes, but they do differ.

The first two essentially are the same thing stimulation/massage and expression.

But the notable difference lies in the 3 modes.

On the MomMed S21 pump, the 3rd mode is ‘auto’. This mode is for an automatic pumping experience. It will run you through the massage (letdown) phase, followed by the expression phase. I think this option is especially great for moms new to pumping who aren’t confident yet to make their own adjustments or for moms who are looking for a straightforward pumping session.

On the flip side, the 3rd mode on the Momcozy M5 is a ‘mixed’ mode that introduces a vibrate-to-pump.

This innovative mode enhances efficiency by incorporating vibrations during pumping. I personally love this vibrating function, as it is designed to gently loosen milk ducts, which can result in an increased milk output and quicker pumping sessions.

Both pumps feature a power suction capability at 280 to 300mmHg.

Collection Cups

Starting with container capacity, I find that both pumps offer users ample room for hassle-free pumping sessions. The Momcozy M5 showcases a container capacity of 5.4 ounces, while the MomMed S21 goes a step further with a slightly larger 6-ounce capacity.

It’s worth noting that although both pumps can hold more, it is recommended to stay within a 4 oz range for optimal efficiency.

I think the additional capacity of the MomMed pump is especially advantageous for mothers seeking to express a significant volume of milk in each pumping session or those who prefer less frequent pumping throughout the day. The spacious container reduces the need for frequent emptying, allowing uninterrupted milk expression and optimized pumping efficiency.

What I do really love is that both pump containers feature an easy-to-pour design, minimizing the likelihood of spillage and preserving your valuable breast milk.

On a minor note, neither of the two Momcozy vs MomMed collection containers are completely transparent due to their all-in-one design. This can make it trickier to see how full your collection cup is when your pump is in your bra. Nevertheless, I think both containers facilitate relatively easy monitoring of collected milk during pumping sessions.

momcozy versus mommed battery ports

Battery Life And Charging

Battery life and charging capabilities are one of the key factors that I look at in a breast pump, especially when it comes to a hands-free breast pump.

And when we compare both these pumps, I think they both offer a great battery life, especially for part-time pumping.

Starting with the Momcozy M5, its battery life provides a usage duration of approximately 100-120 minutes on a single charge. This equates to around 5-6 sessions, before requiring a recharge.

Recharging the pump takes around 2 hours.

MomMed S21 again has a battery life of 120 minutes or 5-6 sessions.

Recharging the S21 pump takes around 2.5 hours, which is a little longer then Momcozy M5 but still comparable.

If I am being picky too, I do prefer the location of the recharging port on the Momcozy M5 as you don’t have to pull off the motor to access it like you do with the MomMed S21.

momcozy vs mommed led screen

LED Screen

I love that both these pumps come with a LED screen. Both are relatively small and simple but clearly display all the key information you need during your pumping session.

That said there are two key differences where I feel the MomMed does it better.

This is with their curved screen, which I do think the angle makes it easy to read whilst wearing and the inclusion of an inbuilt timer. I think this is a very valuable feature to easily keep track of your pumping session.

The two things I don’t like about the MomMed LED screen is that the light doesn’t switch off after a set period of time like the Momcozy M5 does. I find it makes it less discrete, especially if you’re wearing a thin top or pumping at night.

And the second is the color of the LED light. It is a purple which I assume is done as the light doesn’t switch off, but it is harder to see compared with the bright white of the Momcozy.

mommed vs momcozy size

Portability

What truly impresses me about both the Momcozy and MomMed brands is the wearable nature of their pumps which I feel is essential in modern motherhood.

Their designs are tailored to empower mothers to uphold their pumping routines even while on the move, eliminating the need to confine themselves to a single spot.

Both pumps feature a lightweight and compact ‘all-in-one’ design, weighing a mere 230g per cup.

However, the MomMed is slightly smaller in size including width, due to the unique flange design of the Momcozy M5.

If discretion is a high priority, then you’ll prefer the smaller size of the MomMed S21 pump.

I do love that both pumps incorporate a clever bra adjustment buckle feature! This ingenious buckle simplifies resizing the pump to fit your existing bras, removing the necessity of purchasing dedicated ones for pumping sessions.

And Momcozy has me in love with the hard-shell carry case with handle they provide with the M5. Not only does it look great, but it really helps to protect your pumps whilst on the go or in storage.

momcozy m5 carry case

Noise

The MomMed S21 and Momcozy M5 have a similar noise range at less than 50 dB, however the MomMed is slightly less at >45dB.

For me both pumps are reasonably quiet, and around the house you probably won’t notice the pumping.

If there’s a sleeping baby in the room, your breast pump shouldn’t wake them up.

However, if you’re in a tranquil work environment then the pumps might be heard.

Warranty

MomMed S21 offers an impressive lifetime warranty, if you purchase your pump via Amazon, compared with a 1 year warranty from Momcozy.

Whilst I love that both pumps come with warranties, there really is no comparison between the two.

Price And Value For Money

When it comes to price the MomMed S21 is the better option. It is almost half the price of the Momcozy M5.

I think the MomMed ticks the all the boxes you’d want for a wearable breast pump, such as discretion, LED screen, 12 suction levels. Plus, the cheaper price is a huge advantage.

That said, the emphasis that Momcozy has placed on comfort and efficiency with their unique flange slope and vibration mode can certainly be worth the price for some moms.

I really do think that both pumps offer exceptional value for the price, particularly when compared with other premium pumps in the market, such as Willow and Elvie.
