Huggies Little Snugglers Vs Pampers Swaddlers

We’ll begin by considering both diapers on their own merits. Why should parents consider buying these diapers?

All About Huggies Little Snugglers

Little Snugglers by Huggies are diapers designed to be as soft and comfortable as possible on the delicate skin of newborns.

The size range for Little Snugglers is impressive. They’re available for preemies and newborns, as well as up to size 6.

Little Snugglers are suitable for babies from under 6 pounds to over 35 pounds, which allows you to keep on using your preferred brand as your little one grows.

Little Snugglers also have soft leg bands and a contoured fit, protecting your baby’s skin.

For newborns, the Huggies Little Snugglers come with an umbilical cord cutout.

This feature accommodates babies who still have part of the umbilical cord attached. With the cutout, the diapers are more comfortable for the baby, and more hygienic.

Comfort is clearly a big part of the Little Snugglers range. These diapers are built using a GentleAbsorb liner, which uses small cushions to draw moisture away.

A breathable outer cover helps moisture evaporate, keeping skin dry. The diapers are also hypoallergenic, and they’ve been tested by dermatologists. Hypoallergenic diapers are better for the delicate and sensitive skin of babies.

Parents can also be reassured that these diapers are free from lotions and fragrances, and don’t contain parabens, elemental chlorine, or natural rubber latex.

Comfort is important, but absorbency is also a key feature of these diapers. As mentioned, Little Snugglers are equipped with a GentleAbsorb diaper liner.

This is designed to quickly and gently absorb moisture away from the skin. We’ve found that the Little Snugglers can absorb a lot of liquid, and potentially be used overnight.

However, the liner does have a habit of bunching when wet, which can cause issues.

Little Snugglers also use a soft back pocketed-waistband. The pocket creates a barrier, keeping mess inside the diaper and reducing the risk of blowouts.

For newborns and younger babies, still with a primarily milk-based diet, this back pocket is very helpful at keeping mess contained.

A final feature of the Huggies Little Snugglers that we have to mention is the wetness indicator.

This is a yellow strip on the front of the diaper that turns blue when wet. Parents can quickly glance across at the wetness indicator, and assess whether it’s time for a change.

Pros

  • Large size range, from preemies to size 6.
  • 12-hour leak protection.
  • Gentle fit all around the diaper.
  • Double grip strips help keep the diaper secure.
  • Wetness indicator for quick changes.

Cons

  • The liner can bunch when wet.
  • Lacks flexibility for when your little one starts moving around.

All About Pampers Swaddlers

Swaddlers by Pampers are ultra-soft diapers created to provide extra comfort for newborn babies.

We’re impressed with the range of sizes that Pampers Swaddlers are available in.

They’re sold from size newborn to 7, so are suitable for babies from under 10 pounds to over 41 pounds.

The large range allows parents to keep using the same diapers as their baby grows.

In terms of fit, the Pampers Swaddlers use soft Flexi-Sides for improved comfort. The flexible sides accommodate natural movement, and help reduce leaks.

Parents have reported that the fit of Pampers Swaddlers is exceptional, accommodating for different shapes and sizes.

Parents who had purchased the Swaddlers for their newborn were happy to find the fit stayed good as their baby grew.

Pampers Swaddlers also have an umbilical cord notch, with a contoured fit to protect the healing belly button.

The absorbency of the Pampers Swaddlers is also impressive. Pampers use a BreatheFree Liner, which wicks away moisture quickly, leaving your baby’s skin clean and dry.

LockAway Channels absorb moisture and keep it away from the skin.

Multiple layers improve absorbency, while Dual Leak-Guard Barriers stop leaks where they’re most likely to occur. A wetness indicator will let you know when it’s time for a change.

Pampers claim that the Swaddlers are their softest ever diapers, and they certainly feel gentle. You won’t think twice about putting these diapers next to your baby’s skin.

These diapers are also hypoallergenic, and use no parabens or natural rubber. Pampers also claim that these are the #1 pediatrician recommended brand, and they’ve been accredited as skin safe by the Skin Health Alliance.

Although the Pampers Swaddlers are very soft, they feel like they lack some durability.

For newborns, this won’t be much of a problem. However, as your child grows, the diapers might not cope with excess movement.

Overall, we’re very impressed with the performance of the Pampers Swaddlers. The fit was impressive, the absorbency was good, and nothing could beat them for softness.

Pros

  • Incredibly soft and gentle against delicate baby skin.
  • Dual Leak-Guard Barriers reduce the risk of leaks.
  • Soft Flexi-Sides provide a secure and comfortable fit for different babies.
  • Quickly wicks away moisture with the BreatheFree Liner.
  • Recommended by pediatricians, and accredited by the Skin Health Alliance.

Cons

  • Lacks some durability.

Pampers Swaddlers Vs Huggies Little Snugglers

Having considered the diapers on their own, we’ll now compare the similarities and differences.

Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers are both diapers designed to be extra comfortable for newborn babies, which gives them some crucial features to compare.

What Are The Similarities Between little snugglers vs swaddlers?

Both Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers are diapers designed for increased softness. Below, we’ll consider the similarities of the designs.

Comfort

We were really impressed with the comfort level of both the Huggies Little Snugglers and the Pampers Swaddlers.

They were touchably soft, and we didn’t feel any concern having these diapers close to sensitive skin.

Secure Fit

Both diapers felt safe and secure. The Little Snugglers use double grip strips to ensure a fit that’s tight enough to stay in place, but won’t cause discomfort.

We also liked the fasteners on the Pampers Swaddlers, which were easy to use and kept the diaper where it needed to be.

We’ll cover the rest of the fit in more detail below, because we felt there were some key areas of difference.

Absorbency

Both diapers were absorbent and reduced leaks. Huggies Little Snugglers use a GentleAbsorb Diaper Liner, which has tiny cushions to pull moisture away from the skin.

We found they could absorb a large amount of liquid, and they absorbed quickly.

Pampers Swaddlers use a BreatheFree Liner, wicking away the wetness. The ultra-soft absorbent layers added to the overall efficiency, while leak-guard barriers kept moisture in the diaper.

Sizes

There are some size differences with Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers, but we were impressed with the large range of both brands.

Little Snugglers had more options for smaller babies, including a preemie size and newborn diapers. However, the Little Snugglers only went up to a size 6.

Pampers Swaddlers, on the other hand, didn’t have a preemie size, but are sold in size 7. This means parents can keep on using the Swaddlers for longer.

Overall, the sizes offered by Little Snugglers and Swaddlers were comparable.

Umbilical Cord Cutout

For newborns, both the Little Snugglers and the Pampers Swaddlers come with an umbilical cord cutout.

This is a shaped design that keeps the edge of the diaper away from the belly button, giving it time to heal. These cutouts are good for both comfort and hygiene.

Although both diapers feature a cutout, we preferred the design on the Little Snugglers.

We found it gave better clearance when compared to the Pampers. The Swaddlers design was still good, but Little Snugglers just came out on top.

Hypoallergenic

Hypoallergenic diapers are recommended for safe use against sensitive skin. Both Little Snugglers and Swaddlers are hypoallergenic, and have been tested by dermatologists for safe use.

They’re also both free of elemental chlorine and natural rubber latex. Parents can feel safe using either diaper.

Wetness Indicator

Huggies and Pampers both use wetness indicators, and they can be found on the Little Snugglers and the Swaddlers.

These are lines on the front of the diaper that change color when wet. Parents can quickly glance at the wetness indicator, and decide whether it’s time for a change.

We were impressed with the performance of the wetness indicator on both, although we found it wasn’t a hugely necessary feature on newborn diapers. However, there were times when it came in handy.

Price

In terms of price, there’s very little difference between the two brands.

The price per diaper changed depending on the size of the diaper, and whether or not we were bulk buying. However, overall, the prices remained consistently similar for both options.

Ease Of Use

Even experienced diaper-changers will know that getting your newborn into a fresh and clean diaper can be stressful!

You don’t want to be fiddling around with complicated tabs and strange instructions as you try and quickly get your baby comfortably covered.

Luckily, both Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers are simple and easy to use. Although they can’t guarantee a stress-free change, they can help things run a bit smoother.

What Are The Differences Between swaddlers vs little snugglers?

While there are some similarities between Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers, there are also plenty of differences!

Below, we’ll cover what sets these two diaper designs apart.

Softness

Although both Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers are designed to be gentle for babies, we think Swaddlers are the overall winners in this category.

Pampers claim that these diapers are the softest they’ve ever made, and we believe you can feel the difference.

Both diapers are cushioned and comfortable, but Pampers Swaddlers have just that extra level of gentle touch.

Durability

Pampers Swaddlers might win when it comes to softness, but we think that Huggies Little Snugglers are superior when it comes to durability.

They feel sturdy and strong, with the thick build able to cope with the rigorous test of an active baby!

The Swaddlers have decent durability, but we feel perhaps some strength has been sacrificed for softness.

For this reason, we’d consider Swaddlers better for newborns, and Little Snugglers superior for growing babies.

Fit

Huggies Little Snugglers have some issues with fit, due to the narrow crotch area. The narrow crotch is intended to secure the fit and reduce leaks, but for some parents, it actually makes the problem worse.

Little Snugglers seem to fit babies with chubby legs, but parents have found that there are gaps when the Huggies diapers are used on longer and skinnier babies.

Some parents have also found that the Huggies Little Snugglers have excess materials hanging between the legs. The design lacks flexibility when it comes to fit, which can exacerbate these issues.

Pampers Swaddlers, on the other hand, had a superior fold that allowed parents to fit the diaper to different body shapes.

Although there was some bunching between the legs, the problem was much less pronounced.

Reviews indicate that more parents have found the shape of the Swaddlers to be right for their baby, compared to the Huggies.

However, it’s difficult to say exactly which fit will be right for your baby. Swaddlers seem to have the more adaptable fit, but other parents have found Little Snugglers superior.

Pocketed Waistband

Huggies Little Snugglers feature a back pocketed waistband, which acts as a barrier in the diapers to keep mess contained.

This is a useful feature for newborns on a milk or formula diet, as they tend to have very runny poop! The pocketed waistband helps to keep mess within the diaper and away from the baby’s skin.

Which Is Better? Huggies Little Snugglers Or Pampers Swaddlers?

As you can probably tell, there isn’t much to differentiate between Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers! In fact, we’d say the big deciding factor is fit.

Both diapers use different shaping to try and create a comfortable and secure fit. However, we think Pampers does a better job at achieving a close fit for more babies.

Huggies Little Snugglers use a contoured fit with a narrow crotch width. This design seems to fit chubby babies well, but struggles to form a snug barrier for babies with skinny legs.

The soft and stretchy sides of the Pampers Swaddlers helps the diaper to stay in place for a larger number of babies.

Although the Pampers Swaddlers seem to fit more babies, the Huggies Little Snugglers are preferred by some parents.

As the fit is such a big feature of both diapers, if possible, we recommend trying both and seeing what works for your baby. If this isn’t possible, then we recommend the Pampers Swaddlers.

Another factor to consider is age. Swaddlers and Little Snugglers are both designed to be gentle on the sensitive skin of newborns.

Pampers Swaddlers superior softness and flexible fit is good for newborns and those first early weeks.

However, the increased durability of the Huggies Little Snugglers is beneficial for tummy time, and when babies start to move around more.

Overall, we prefer Pampers Swaddlers to Huggies Little Snugglers. For a similar price, they offer better comfort and a more secure fit.

But as fit is so key to the performance of both these diapers, it’s tough to choose which brand will be right for you.

Final Thoughts on Pampers Swaddlers vs Huggies snugglers

Both Huggies Little Snugglers and Pampers Swaddlers are soft diapers designed for the sensitive skin of newborns.

There are plenty of similarities between the two diapers, but our top choice is Pampers Swaddlers, thanks to a snug fit at a reasonable price. However, we think most parents will be pleased with the performance of both diapers.
