Nuna Vs Uppababy Stroller

Let’s dive in an look at the key differences between Nuna stroller vs UPPAbaby stroller.

Price

The most striking variation between these two strollers is that of the price tag. As we mentioned earlier, both brands are considered to be high end. However, despite this, the UPPAbaby Vista V2 is almost twice the price of the Nuna MIXX stroller.

However, believe it or not, there’s another key difference that could potentially make the UPPAbaby Vista V2 worth the additional money…

Whereas the Nuna MIXX stroller is designed to be a single stroller, accommodating just one child, the UPPAbaby Vista stroller travel system is a convertible stroller that can be expanded into a double stroller with a second seat or with a standing board to allow for a second, older child to also be pushed along.

And this can be quite invaluable for those with a slightly older child because not only is the older child not moaning about having to walk everywhere, it also means that you don’t have to carry them in one arm either. You both get a rest.

Safety Features

Safety Harness

Both strollers feature a 5-point safety harness for the toddler seat, and the straps on each are fully adjustable.

Between the two, we prefer the harness on the Nuna stroller because it features more padding both underneath the middle buckle and on the crotch strap.

Brake System

The Nuna stroller features a large brake pedal positioned on the rear axle. It’s marked red for on and green for off.

With the UPPAbaby stroller on the other hand, the brake can be found next to the rear right wheel. It will change to red when engaged and green when released.

When we tested them out, we found that the UPPAbaby brake was a little trickier to use because of how much the storage basket sticks out, and you could risk knocking the basket when you put the brake on.

Comfort Features

Materials

As you may expect from high brands, both strollers feature top quality materials, with a metal frame, and quality fabrics.

The UPPAbaby has a real leather cover on the handlebar, whereas the Nuna has a leatherette grip.

Seat Positioning

Both strollers offer reversible seat which allows the child face away from the parent in their stroller seat or you can also reposition the seat so that they can face the parent if preferred.

Moreover, both strollers offer a one-handed recline adjustment. The only real difference between the two in this regard is that the Nuna MIXX offers a fully flat recline, and the leg part of the UPPAbaby is also independently adjustable.

Canopy

Both strollers have excellent 3 panel canopies that offer UPF 50+ protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

The UPPAbaby has two peel-a-boo mesh windows for ventilation, whereas the Nuna has just one. What’s more, the UPPAbaby canopy is noticeably larger than the Nuna one.

Maneuverability

Lightweight

To be honest, neither of these strollers are particularly lightweight, with both weighing exactly 27 pounds.

Wheel Set Up

Both the Nuna and the UPPAbaby use a four-wheel setup. This means that they aren’t quite as easy to maneuver as those with just 3 wheels, but it does help that the rear wheels are much larger than the front two in both instances.

Tires And Suspension

The UPPAbaby VISTA V2 has 11.5″ wheels in the back and 8″ wheels at the front,  all made of polyurethane, and there’s a suspension system in place.

The Nuna Mixx has 11-inch rubber tires on the rear, filled with foam, and 7.5-inch plastic wheels at the front. It also has an all-wheel suspension system.

To be honest, neither of these strollers are designed for rough terrain, and I’d advise against taking them on wooded trails or cobbled streets. But if I had to choose one or the other, the winner in this instance is UPPAbaby.

Convenience Features

Adjustable Handlebar

Both strollers feature an adjustable handlebar.

Compact Folding

I’m pleased to report that both strollers can fold down quite compactly to fit in your trunk. The measurements are as follows:

Nuna MIXX: 34″ x 23.5″ x 18″

UPPAbaby VISTA V2: 17.3″ x 25.7″ x 33.3″

Ease Of Folding And Unfolding

Both strollers are easy and straightforward to fold down, and to unfold, although neither of them offer one-handed folding.

Storage Basket Capacity

Both strollers feature a very large storage basket underneath the seat for your nappy bag and shopping bags. And both baskets are very easily accessible from the back of the stroller.

The Nuna MIXX storage basket features a foldable divider for organizing your gear, and a zippered pocket for valuables such as your wallet, keys and phone.

The UPPAbaby VISTA V2 storage basket is considerably larger, one of the biggest on the market. What’s more, it can hold up to a whopping 30 pounds in weight.

Car Seat Compatibility

Unfortunately, the Nuna MIXX stroller is only compatible with the Nuna PIPA series of car seats, which is fine if you are going to buy one.

The UPPAbaby however is not only car seat compatible with the UPPAbaby MESA infant car seat without the need for adapters, but you can also get special adapters for it for a whole range of other manufacturer’s car seats.

These include:

  • UPPAbaby MESA, MESA V2, and MESA Max (no adapters required)
  • Chicco KeyFit 35, KeyFit 30, KeyFit 30 Zip, KeyFit 30 Zip Air, Fit2, Fit2 Air (with car adapter)
  • Clek Liing (with car adapter)
  • Cybex Aton series (with car adapter)
  • Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30, Mico Max Plus, Mico AP, Mico NXT, Mico, Citi, Cabrio and CabrioFix (with car adapter)
  • Nuna PIPA car seat, PIPA RX, PIPA Lite, PIPA Lite R, PIPA Lite RX, and PIPA Lite LX (with car adapter)
  • Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 and 4-35 Nido (with car adapter)

Accessories

Carry Cot

Both brands of stroller offer a carry cot or bassinet that can lie completely flat and replace the infant seat, making it suitable for newborns.

Car Seat Adapter

Only UPPAbaby offers a range of different car seat adapters, whereas Nuna is only compatible with their own brand.

Other Accessories

Both brands also have cup holders, travel bags, rain covers, and child trays available for purchase.

Final Thoughts on Nuna vs Uppababy

It’s clear then that both strollers certainly have a lot to offer:

  • They are both built with top quality materials that will last
  • Both can be converted to travel systems by replacing the seat with a car seat
  • Both offer excellent comfort and safety features
  • Both of them offer excellent protection from the harmful rays of the sun
  • And you can buy all the accessories you will need.

There’s also a case for buying different strollers entirely, especially if you expect to have to travel on rough terrain, or if you want to get a stroller that will fold down one-handed.

If, however, you have made up your mind that you’re definitely going to get one of these, then we would choose UPPAbaby stroller.

Whilst it is more expensive than a Nuna stroller, UPPAbaby strollers such as the VISTA V2 offer more features such as multiple seating options which allows for longer use, as well as more storage and better car seat compatibility.
