Momcozy M5 Vs V1
Please note that Momcozy have now upgraded their M1 to M5. I will discuss the latest pump models in this post so you can make the most informed decision for you.
So, let’s begin by seeing what the Momcozy V1 vs M5 pumps can do.
All About Momcozy V1
The V1 breast pump is a wearable breast pump designed for convenience and exceptional performance.
The V1 is designed with two very light weight milk collection cups (only 120g/0.26lb per cup) and a pump motor that is connected via tubing. It is designed to be worn with the collection cups inside a bra, allowing moms to pump discreetly while going about their daily activities.
It comes with hospital grade suction power (up to -290mmHg) as well as 9 suction levels and 3 modes so you can tailor your pumping session to your comfort needs. I love that the third mixed mode also features micro-vibration technology so you can maximize the amount of breast milk extracted during each pumping session.
One of the standout features for me is the HD touch panel! It is extremely easy to change between settings and with its large in-built timer it is easy to see exactly where you are at with your pumping session.
With 150 minutes of battery life, the V1 can be used for around 7 to 8 pumping sessions off a single charge. It also has an auto shutdown after 25 minutes which is ample given the average pumping session lasts between 15 to 20 minutes.
I love that the collection cups have a huge 7.7oz milk container capacity as well as a comfortable double seal breast shield/flange cushion for additional comfort.

All About Momcozy M5
The Momcozy M5 has been designed for pain-free and efficient breast milk pumping.
This all-in-one breast pump itself apart from the other Momcozy pumps, including the V1, with its distinct 105° flange angle which is cleverly designed to mimic the natural mouth position and movement of a baby.
This unique flange design not only leads to painless pumping but also helps to stimulate letdown, resulting in smoother and more efficient pumping sessions.
The M5 comes 9 adjustable suction levels and 3 modes (Stimulation / Expression / Mixed), so you can tailor your pumping experience.
The third mode, a vibrating pumping option, enhances efficiency by gently loosening milk ducts during pumping. This leads to increased milk output and quicker sessions. Combined with the unique flange design, the result is notably efficient pumping.
Another notable feature of this breast pump is its compact all-in-one structure and lightweight build, tipping the scales at a mere 230g. Consequently, this pump is both discreet and highly portable.
The M5’s double-sealed flange design further ensures comfort during pumping.
It comes with a small, user-friendly LED screen.
I also love the inclusion of a durable carry case with a handle, facilitating effortless portability and storage.
Running at a noise level of under 50dB, the M5 maintains discretion by upholding a tranquil environment.

Similarities And Differences Between V1 Vs M5 Momcozy Wearable Pumps
The M5 and V1 are some of the most popular portable breast pumps for moms. In this comparison, I will discuss the similarities and significant distinctions between these pumps.
Pump Design
When you look at both the M5 and V1 Momcozy pumps the first thing you will notice is their distinct design differences.
The M5 is an all-in-one breast pump. This means there is no tubing or wires that connect it to a motor and the motor is attached to the collection cup in a single unit.
I personally love this design as I feel it offers the most discretion and you don’t have to fuss with tubing. It simply fits within your pumping bra.
This is in contrast to the V1 which is designed with two milk collection cups and a pump motor that is connected via tubing. It is designed to be worn with the collection cups inside a bra and the pump motor either around your neck or waist.
Whilst your hands are still free, you do have to worry about wearing or carrying the pump motor.

Flange Design
When it comes to these two Momcozy pumps, one of the biggest differences is in their flange design.
The V1 comes with a double-sealed-flange design which provides a more comfortable pumping experience and a better seal to prevent unwanted leakages.
However, when it comes to flange design, for me the M5 is the clear winner with its unique 105° flange slope that also is double-sided.
The meticulous calculation of the 105° flange angle is aimed at closely replicating the natural curve of a baby’s mouth during breastfeeding. By mirroring this angle, the M5 breast pump ensures a seamless and pain-free pumping encounter, effectively imitating the inherent mechanics of breastfeeding.
This precise contouring of the breast cup not only enhances comfort but also alleviates potential discomfort associated with the constriction of milk ducts which is a common issue with conventional breast pumps.
Importantly, this specific flange angle significantly contributes to the efficiency of milk flow. By allowing unrestricted and natural movement of milk, the M5 simplifies the pumping process, potentially leading to higher milk yield in a shorter span of time.
I really do think this distinctive feature is great for moms who are looking to prioritize their comfort during pumping.

Pumping Modes And Suction Levels
When it comes to the suction levels and pumping modes of the M5 and V1 they are actually very similar.
Firstly, both pumps provide 9 levels of suction intensity, which allows you to increase the level of suction based on your comfort and milk output.
Also, both pumps are equipped with a strong hospital grade suction capacity with the M5 ranging from 280 to 300mmHg and the Momcozy V1 up to 290mmHg, which I feel for a wearable breast pump is impressive.
What I love most though, is both pumps also come with three pumping modes, stimulation (for letdown), expression, and mixed. With the third mode also including vibration.
Personally, I find this vibrating feature fantastic, as it is strategically designed to gently loosen milk ducts. This can lead to increased milk output and faster pumping sessions, which is certainly a big win in my books.
I do believe the vibration mode on the V1 is better than the M5 as it includes both high frequency & micro-vibration which can help to make your pumping sessions even more productive.
You can learn more about how the M5 operates in my How To Use Momcozy M5 guide!

Collection Cups
A less notable variation between the two pumps is the collection cups.
In terms of capacity, the Momcozy M5 only has a container capacity of 5.4 ounces, whereas the V1 comes with a significantly larger 7.8 ounce capacity.
From my perspective, the added capacity of the V1 can be beneficial for moms who frequently extract a significant volume of milk during each pumping session or those who opt for less frequent pumping throughout the day. The larger container reduces the need for frequent emptying, which allows you to focus on milk expression without disruptions and thereby maximizing pumping effectiveness.
In addition, another difference is in the cup transparency. As there is no motor attached to the collection cup of the V1 it is completely transparent, this makes it very easy to see how much breast milk you have pumped at any one time. In contrast, the M5 is partially covered thanks to its all-in-one design. Nevertheless, both options ensure convenient monitoring of collected milk during your pumping routine.
One last difference is the easy-to-pour mechanism which significantly reduces the likelihood of spilling your precious liquid gold. Whilst both have one, I feel the V1’s spout is in a position that could lead to more spillage. It also required a silicone cap which I feel is just another piece that you need to worry about cleaning and maintaining.

Battery Life And Charging
When it comes to battery life, the Momcozy V1 is the clear winner! It is capable of lasting up to 150 minutes or approximately 6 to 7 pumping sessions on a single full charge.
This is in comparison to the Momcozy M5 that only offers approximately 100-120 minutes of use on a single charge which equates to around 5-6 pumping sessions.
While I think the M5’s battery life proves sufficient for part-time pumpers, if you’re looking to use your pump multiple times throughout the day or full-time, you may find the battery life lacking.
In terms of recharging time, both pumps take around 2 hours to fully recharge.
LED Screen
There really is no question that the LED screen of the V1 is superior when compared with the M5 Momcozy pump.
I feel Momcozy have really taken advantage of the separate motor from the collection cups with the V1. Not only have they included a HD touch screen that is very easy to use, requiring just a light touch to swap between settings, but the screen on the V1 is larger, clearer, and offers an in-built timer.
For me the biggest difference is the inclusion of a timer. I think this feature is fantastic for tracking your pumping sessions, and whilst you can use your phone or a tracking app, I think having it in-built just makes things easier.
That said, I love that the M5 still provides a straightforward and user-friendly interface, even if the LED screen is much smaller.
These displays offer a visual representation of vital information, including suction intensity, pumping mode, and battery status. I think having the display is a fantastic option as it equips you with real-time updates and allows you to make adjustments when needed.

Portability
When looking for a wearable breast pump, I think portability and discretion are incredibly important.
As I mentioned previously, the M5 breast pump has been designed with portability in mind.
It boasts a lightweight and compact ‘all-in-one’ design, with each pump weighing just 230g.
With the all-in-one design it means that the M5 pump fits more subtly into your pumping bra. It’s worth noting that it might be slightly visible from the top of the bra, although I feel that it is minimal.
With that being said, I still believe that the V1 still maintains a discreet profile, especially as the collection cups are extremely light weight, only 120 grams each, and fit snuggly into your bra like the M5. I think the separate motor and tubing is what makes it less discreet.
Again, when we are talking about portability, it’s hard not to love the inclusion of a hard-shell carry case with the M5! Beyond its visual appeal, this case proves perfect for safeguarding your pumps while you’re on the move.
The V1 does not have a hard carry case, though it does come with individual soft protector bags for each pump.
Both pumps feature a clever bra adjustment buckle, allowing you to adapt your existing pumping bra for the Momcozy pumps, eliminating the need to invest in new ones.
Noise
Nobody wants to listen to a loud breast pump whilst pumping, especially if you’re at work or on the go and trying to be discreet!
Thankfully, all both of the Momcozy pumps are quite to operate.
The M5 is slightly quieter at less than 50 dB whilst the V1 is less than 52dB.
I should point out that the V1 does have a unique sound that almost sounds like a cow mooing. I personally don’t find this an issue, but I know after researching other reviews of the V1 not everyone is in favor of the sound.
Overall, I think the noise output of both pumps is very quiet, and within the confines of your home, the sound of pumping is likely to be hardly noticeable.
This is great, especially for nighttime pumping where you don’t want to disturb your baby.
If you’re pumping at work or on the go, the pumps might be slightly noticeable due to their sound, but that is the case with most electric breast pumps.

Price And Value For Money
Depending where you purchase you pumps from, the M5 and V1 are very similar in price.
So, which one presents as the most value?
For me, I think the unique flange design, vibration mode, and the all in one discretion of the M5 offers a ton of value, especially when you consider all the extras that it comes with such as the hard shell carry case.
That said, I think both provide great value for money especially when compared with other premium pumps on the market such as Willow and Elvie.
The Momcozy M5 is a highly efficient, lightweight, wearable breast pump designed to provide a comfortable and painless pumping experience for nursing mothers.

Final Thoughts
In my opinion, I believe all both the Momcozy breast pumps, V1 and M5 offer themselves as great options for an affordable hands-free breast pump. While each pump brings to the table their advantages, features, and innovations, the ultimate decision should come down to your individual lifestyle and priorities.
For me, the Momcozy M5 truly shines with its emphasis on effective and painless pumping. Its lightweight and ‘all-in-one’ design makes it an ideal choice for those that value mobility and discreet pumping. The incorporation of the 105-degree flange design and vibrate-to-pump mode in the mixed mode grants it a distinctive edge by stimulating milk flow and enhancing output.
On the flip side, the Momcozy V1 shines with its micro-vibration technology and HD touch panel with in-built timer. And let’s not forget the extended battery life and larger milk storage capacity.
In the end, the decision between the Momcozy V1 vs M5 boils down to your personal preferences.
Should you be in search of a part-time pump that prioritizes comfort and discretion, then the M5 is likely to suit you perfectly.
If you’re wanting a pump that offers extended pumping sessions with excellent efficiency and more control over your pumping experience, then the V1 is for you.
