City Mini vs City Mini GT

Let’s take a look at the key features and pros and cons to the Baby Jogger City Mini vs Mini GT.

Main Differences Between The City Mini Vs City Mini GT

There are some key differences between the City Mini vs the City Mini GT which could make a difference to which one you choose.

The City Mini has rubber tyres which are ideal for sidewalks and hard surfaces.

The City Mini GT is better suited to rough terrain, with foam filled tyres that make for a nice smooth ride. They are both good quality tires, so it comes down to which one is going to suit your needs better.

The City Mini GT is a bit more expensive than the City Mini stroller. This is because it is considered to be a specialist stroller.

City Mini Stroller

  • Weight: 18.4 pounds
  • Weight Capacity: Up to 50 pounds
  • Headroom: 23 inches
  • Size: 46.8 inches by 43.5 inches by 24.2 inches
  • Size when folded: 33 inches by 24 inches by 12 inches

The City Mini Stroller has great maneuverability and excellent suspension which means that it is a popular choice for people who like to jog with their stroller.

It is not designed specifically for jogging but it does a good job. It is also suitable for long periods of walking. It is quite compact and easy to turn around tight corners. It is light enough to make it easy to steer but also feels very sturdy.

One of the best features of this stroller is the fact that you can fold it down with just one hand, then lock it into the folded position. Once it is in the folded position there is a very useful carry handle which makes it really easy to lift in and out of the car or up and down the stairs.

The stroller has a useful handbrake that you can access at any time, giving you peace of mind about your child’s safety.

You don’t get much storage space in the basket underneath, as the stroller has quite a slim profile. You might also need to purchase a separate attachment so you can store your keys and phone easily within reach.

It’s not just a great product for you, it’s also really comfortable for your child. There is lots of padding on the seats, which recline to a position that is almost completely flat. This is ideal for when they want to sleep in the stroller.

The only issue with the seat is that it doesn’t go all the way up to a straight seated position. The extendable shade canopy also protects them from the sun.

The fabric of this stroller can be removed and washed very easily.

Pros:

  • Sturdy build quality
  • Lightweight and easy to steer
  • Very easy to fold with useful carry handle
  • Good suspension for jogging
  • Easy to access handbrake
  • Comfortable padded seat
  • Reclining seat position
  • Extendable shade canopy with UV 50+ protection and a peekaboo window

Cons:

  • The storage basket isn’t very big
  • You might need to buy a separate attachment for your personal items
  • The seat does not reach a fully seated position
  • Headroom is a little low for tall toddlers

City Mini GT

  • Weight: 22 pounds
  • Weight Capacity: Up to 65 pounds
  • Headroom: 26 inches
  • Size: 21.1 inches by 6.9 inches by 33.1 inches
  • Size when folded: 29 inches by 24 inches by 10 inches

This stroller is very easy to fold up and is a nice compact size to fit in your trunk. It is heavier than the City Mini Stroller, but it is still quite an easy maneuver.

It has a fantastic front swivel wheel which makes it even easier to steer. It is strong and very durable, but still has a sleek design.

The Forever Air rubber tires have all wheel suspension and will never go flat. They help to make the stroller very agile even on rough terrain.

The City Mini GT is very similar to the City Mini stroller – it has a similar design but with some improvements to make it even better on different types of terrain. It also has adjustable handlebars so you find a very comfortable position that suits your height.

The seat of the City Mini GT reclines to an almost flat position which is very comfortable for your child. The seat also has vents in the back which allows air to flow and keeps your baby cool in warm weather.

The stroller also has a retractable weather cover to protect your child from the sun, wind and rain. The canopy has a peekaboo window so it’s easy to keep an eye on your child.

One of the unique features of this stroller is the calf support. The seat has an adjustable leg rest which can be moved as your child grows to ensure that they have all the support they need.

This calf support also has another use- it means that the storage basket underneath the stroller can be accessed from all sides which is much more convenient. You can put things in or take things out from the front.

Pros:

  • Extendable canopy with UV 50+ protection and a peekaboo window
  • Easy to fold
  • Front swivel wheel for easy steering
  • Strong, durable and sleek
  • Forever Air tyres
  • Adjustable handlebars
  • Reclining seats with air vents
  • Good headroom

Cons:

  • Heavier than the City Stroller
  • Does not have a carry handle in the folded position

Final Thoughts on City Mini vs GT

These two strollers are very similar, and either would be a great choice. If you are looking to save money then stick with the City Mini Stroller.

If you have a bit more room in your budget then you might want to go for the City Mini GT, as it has some additional design benefits and performs very well on rougher terrains.

If you want an adjustable handlebar you will need to go with the GT, which also has a superior brake, but if you want a carry handle you will need to get the City Mini Stroller.

The City Mini Stroller is also a bit more lightweight than the GT, though both are fairly easy to push and the GT performs better on rough terrain.

If you want to find a stroller that is sleek, stylish, lightweight, durable and easy to use then either the City Mini stroller or the City Mini GT would be an excellent option.

The City Mini GT has a higher weight capacity, larger headroom, and calf support. This means that it will last you a bit longer as your child grows. This could make up for the fact that it costs more money.
