Bugaboo Lynx Overview

The Bugaboo Lynx is a stroller designed to tackle the bumps and twists of whatever is in its way. This is an all terrain stroller, fitted with no-puncture wheels intended to deliver a smooth ride for both parent and baby.

We’ll begin by covering the Lynx stroller specifications. This is a lightweight all terrain stroller, with a total weight of 20.7 lbs. It’s suitable for children from birth until roughly 4 years, although the bassinet is sold separately.

When in a compact two-piece fold, the total dimensions of the Bugaboo Lynx stroller are 34.45 x 20.87 x 12.2 inches. At the one-piece self standing fold, the dimensions are 23.62 x 23.62 x 34.65 inches.

The Bugaboo Lynx is an unusual prospect: a multi-terrain stroller that doesn’t come with added bulk.

What We Like About The Bugaboo Lynx

The Bugaboo Lynx is a premium design, and the brand has already proved themselves adept at making both lightweight strollers, and all terrain strollers.

Can the Lynx really combine these two components? Let’s take a look at what we like about the Bugaboo Lynx.

All Terrain

While most of us would love it if we only ever had to use a stroller on smooth store floors, this isn’t the reality of life. An all terrain stroller allows parents to get out and explore with their children, and the Lynx really does perform.

From paving slabs to grass, the Bugaboo Lynx uses two-wheel suspension and puncture proof wheels for a smooth journey. Although it might not glide over uneven surfaces, it will travel them with relative ease.

Smooth Ride

Perhaps our favorite thing about the Lynx is that it provides a smooth ride for both parents and babies.

The lightweight frame of the Lynx means that in many circumstances this is an all terrain stroller that you can push with one hand.

Even around corners, the Lynx moves easily. It really is a joy to steer, and takes on grocery stores and parks with the same smooth motion.

And while you enjoy steering the Bugaboo Lynx, your little one will be relaxing happily. The two wheel suspension, combined with the cushioned seat, provides a comfortable ride across different terrains.

And because the Lynx uses no-puncture tires, you don’t have to worry about a sudden jolt leading to a rude awakening.

Angled Handlebar

Related to the smooth ride of the Lynx, the stroller has an angled and adjustable handlebar. It feels incredibly comfortable in the hands, and the slight angle will make it easier to maneuver the Lynx across those tricky landscapes.

Underseat Storage

There is ample storage room under the seat of the Bugaboo Lynx, and the basket is able to hold up to 22 lbs. So, you can fit in the diaper bag, your purse, and maybe a little bit of shopping.

The underseat storage does have a slight issue, which is the open basket mouth can seem a little precarious. However, the excellent suspension of the Lynx meant we never worried about items going astray.

Light Frame

The Bugaboo Lynx weighs just 20.7 lbs when empty, which is incredibly light for an all terrain stroller. The frame is made from aerospace aluminum, making a build that’s durable without the weight.

The lighter frame is fantastic for everyday use. It’s possible to pick the Lynx up with just one hand, so you can get it in and out of the car without the hassle. When you want to tuck the stroller away at home, the lighter build opens up the storage options.

Plus, if you do come across some terrain the stroller can’t tackle, you won’t have a massive weight to pick up.

Sun Canopy

The Bugaboo Lynx employs an extra large sun canopy, so you can completely wrap your child in darkness. This is an excellent feature on an all terrain stroller.

If you’re planning to test those rugged wheels with a day trip, you won’t have to skip nap time. Simply pull the sun canopy down, and create a snug space for them to sleep in.

If that sounds a little overwhelming for your little one, there is a peek-a-boo window. This both keeps air circulating, to prevent the stroller from overheating, and allows for quick checks. A glance in the window can tell you just how your baby is doing.

One Piece/Two Piece Fold

The Lynx has two different folding options: an upright one-piece fold, and a compact two-piece fold.

The one-piece fold is a little bulky, but it does allow the Bugaboo Lynx to stand upright when in a folded position. The two-piece fold creates a more compact footprint, and will probably be necessary to get the stroller into your car.

No-Fuss Brake

The one-foot brake pedal makes it easy to park the Lynx stroller, and to get it going again. In fact, it’s so easy to use that Bugaboo describes it as flip-flop friendly!

We particularly like that the brake is in a different color to the rest of the frame, so you won’t be struggling to find the right bit to press.

Overall Build Quality

The materials and build quality of the Bugaboo Lynx is exceptional, which you’d expect considering the price point. The cushioned seat will provide a comfortable ride for any baby, while parents will appreciate the easy grip handle and the attractive design.

What We Don’t Like About The Bugaboo Lynx

There is a lot to like about the Lynx, but there are a few downsides to the design. Let’s take a look at what we don’t like about the Bugaboo Lynx.

Some Terrain Issues

While the Lynx can handle most terrains, it is going to struggle on particularly bumpy surfaces. The Lynx has two wheel suspension, and in most places you’ll be able to push the stroller as normal.

However, it might at times be necessary to tip the stroller, and push on just two wheels. This is okay for short bursts, but not for extended use.

Difficult Seat Recline

The Bugaboo Lynx offers a three-position recline, but it’s hard work to actually move the seat. To activate the recline, you need to press two buttons simultaneously, while moving the seat backwards.

It’s surprisingly complex, and you might find it takes several attempts to get the angle you want.

This is a shame, as the seat recline on other Bugaboo strollers is smooth and easy.

Bulky When Folded

Despite the lightweight frame, when folded the Lynx still has a significant bulk. This is frustrating, as it does limit the use of the Lynx — it’s hard to make the most of an all terrain stroller when you can’t fit it in the car.

Fold Mechanism Takes Time To Master

Once you’ve got the mechanism sorted, you should be able to fold your Bugaboo Lynx in no time at all. But you might find it takes a fair bit of practice to get to this point. You need to press two buttons simultaneously, and the movement is tricky.

When you’ve used the Lynx consistently, the fold mechanism becomes easier. But even then, we wouldn’t describe it as an instinctive fold. Disappointing, as the rest of the stroller is very natural to use.

Final Thoughts On Bugaboo Lynx Stroller Review

The Bugaboo Lynx claims to do a lot. This is meant to be an all terrain stroller with a lightweight build for smoother and easier handling.

For the most part, it does live up to its promise. The two-wheel suspension and puncture-proof wheels make it easier to tackle tricky terrain, while providing a smooth ride for both mom and baby.

Little details such as the protective canopy and fuss-free brake add to the versatility.

There are a few issues. We wish the fold was better, and some of the features are less than intuitive.

But the overall performance of the Bugaboo Lynx is incredible, and the combination of lightweight frame and all terrain wheels make this an excellent choice for city dwellers who like to get out and about.
